OFFICIAL UsNetMail POLICY:
--------------------------
#1] OPERATIONAL POLICY: It is not, nor shall it become the intention
of UsNetMail to impose any 'operational conditions' upon its members.
It is the desire of this network to provide a vehicle for the exchange
of messages between 'individual' systems, whereby each 'individual'
system operates with atonomy. The only operational conditions which
should be observed are those conditions imposed upon your system by
local law. (ie: x-rated conference access, etc.)
#2] PROFIT/FEES TO ACCESS UsNetMail: NO CHARGES WHATSOEVER may be
imposed by a HUB upon a UsNetMail node, other than the UsNetMail
HUB Administrative Fee.
#3] NETWORK ACCESS TO UsNetMail CONFERENCES: AT NO TIME, may a
UsNetMail NODE allow any user/system to receive from their system,
access to UsNetMail conferences in a manner which would provide mail to
that system as if they were a node. Only approved UsNetMail HUBS
may re-broadcast UsNetMail conferences to other systems.
#4] COMPLIANCE WITH LOCAL LAWS: Each UsNetMail node must comply with
all local laws and hold harmless, UsNetMail from any wrong doing caused
by your system/users.
#5] USE OF ALIAS NAMES: UsNetMail provides for the use of Alias names
within the network. Real names are certainly encouraged and perfered.
Most local laws require the sysop to maintain records of the real names
of users with alias names. In any event, all alias names in public
areas must be 'tasteful' in nature. Alias names in x-rated/private
conferences may vary from this, but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE shall an
Alias intended for use in a private/x-rated conference be allowed in
PUBLIC conference areas. Because many BBS utilities sort on last name
fields, all Alias names must be of a FIRST and LAST name structure.
#6] MAIN RUN FREQUENCY: Any UsNetMail node/hub which does not make a
mail run for seven (7) consecutive days shall be considered 'inactive',
and may be dropped from the network. (Excepting for hardware
failures.)
#7] NETWORK ATTITUDE: It is the desire of UsNetMail as a network, to
maintain an 'easy-going' yet 'effective' stature with regard to its
network attitude.
#8] CONFERENCE TOPIC MAINTENANCE: The UsNetMail network provides the
UsEmail conference for un-regulated user-to-user messages, having no
designated topic in the conference. Off-topic messages in topic
sensative conferences will be 'gently' controlled by the Conference
Hosts, or the Network Administrator(s). WarLord compliance to topic
related conferences is not the desire of this network.
#9] ENJOYMENT: It is the prime goal of UsNetMail to provide for
user/sysop enjoyment of the UsNetMail system, for the general exchange,
communication, and learning which this network can offer.
#10] ADVERTISING: Advertising is provided in two (2) areas, BBSads and
4Sale. General advertising must be limited to these areas. The
UsNetMail network will allow messages up to 6 lines which are of an
advertising/announcement nature of new programs and utilities which
DIRECTLY RELATE to the CONFERENCE TOPIC. Example: If in the
WordPerfect conference, a user has written a program/utility to
enhance the 'WordPerfect' product, a short announcement type message
advertising the product is appropriate and allowed. Again the
announcement should state who to contact for more information and
should only be placed in the conference ONCE MONTHLY.
#11] You agree to hold harmless for any cause, UsNetMail and all
of its member systems/sysops from any action(s) whatsoever.
#12] ACCEPTABLE TAGLINE: All messages on your system MUST carry
a tagline that identifies your BBS, and UsNetMail. Acceptable
taglines are as follows;
YOUR ACTUAL TAGLINE MAY VARY, DEPENDING ON YOUR HUB SYSTEM
Outgoing Message Taglines
UsNetMail = YOUR BBS NAME = YOUR BBS CITY = ANYTHING ELSE THAT FITS.
UsMail = YOUR BBS NAME = YOUR BBS CITY = ANYTHING ELSE THAT FITS.
IF SPACE IS CRITICAL, UsNetMail may be shortened to UsMail. No other
deviations will be allowed.
Incomming Message Taglines
UsNetMail = UsNetMail WORLD HUB = TAMPA, FLORIDA = (904) 567-0596
UsNetMail National HUB = Tampa, Florida = (904) 567-0596
Or the tagline that your hub requests.
These taglines are created by your message base inserter (Qnet, Tnet, Rnet)
and are automatically added to all messages.
